Job Full Description
Express seeks to hire a reliable Material Inspector / Classer to support inspection, classification, and handling of materials. This role involves hands-on work in an outdoor/yard environment and requires attention to detail, safety awareness, and the ability to follow specifications and procedures.
Compensation: $18.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday – Friday - 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect inbound logs for compliance with company standards
- Classify and inspect round stock per ANSI, ASTM, and company specifications
- Verify material quality, including purchased and processed products
- Document and report inspection results and classifications
- Assist with finished product inspections as needed
- Perform general clean-up and support additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 1–2 years of related experience preferred
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately
- Clean background check
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to read and follow safety and operating instructions
- Strong hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of forest products, species, and material defects (preferred)
- Basic maintenance/mechanical knowledge
- Team-oriented with willingness to assist where needed
- Ability to stand, bend, and perform physical tasks for extended periods
- Repetitive use of hands and fingers
- Ability to maintain visual focus in a fast-paced environment
