A well-established, privately held holding company in Central Illinois is seeking an experienced Controller to lead and enhance its accounting operations. This role oversees financial functions across multiple operating entities within the construction and specialty services industries.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger and month-end close
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
- Coordinate with external CPA firm on tax filings and year-end audits/reviews
- Develop and improve internal controls and accounting processes
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff
- Partner with ownership and operational leadership on financial strategy
- Manage banking relationships and financing activities
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and industry regulations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred, not required)
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience in construction, job costing, or multi-entity environments strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar)
- Proven leadership or supervisory experience preferred
