Operations Controller
Location: Central, IL Compensation: $90,000 - $150,000 + Bonus Potential
A well-established and growing manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Operations Controller to join its leadership team. This position serves as the primary financial partner to plant leadership, helping drive operational performance, profitability, and strategic decision-making across a complex manufacturing environment.
Financial Leadership & Business Partnership
- Serve as the financial leader supporting plant operational objectives and performance targets.
- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes.
- Analyze financial results and explain variances against forecasts, budgets, and prior periods.
- Prepare and present financial reporting to both plant and senior leadership teams.
Cost Accounting & Operational Analysis
- Monitor and analyze manufacturing costs, standard cost variances, productivity metrics, and key performance indicators.
- Identify financial risks and opportunities while supporting margin improvement initiatives.
- Develop business cases for operational improvements and capital investments.
Process Improvement & Controls
- Maintain a strong internal control environment.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reporting efficiency, automation, and data quality.
- Support the enhancement and utilization of ERP and reporting systems.
- Participate in cross-functional planning processes to ensure alignment between operational and financial objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting or finance leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong background in cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Experience partnering directly with plant, production, or operations leadership.
- Advanced analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- ERP system experience required.
- CPA, CMA, MBA, or similar credentials are a plus.
