Quality Engineer
Located in the Columbus, IN Area Salary: up to $80,000 Annually Regular Full-Time • Day Shift (8:00am–5:00pm)•Full Benefits w/ minimal payout for employee• Bi-Annual Profit sharing starts immediately
Position Summary
The company is seeking a Quality Engineer to support customer requirements, lead problem-solving activities, and ensure compliance with quality standards. This role serves as the primary customer contact for quality concerns, manages PPAP documentation, supports ISO audit activities, and conducts analysis to prevent and resolve quality issues both internally and at customer locations.
Key Responsibilities

Review customer drawings and specifications, comparing requirements to existing products.

Plan and prepare PPAP documentation for new customer programs.

Serve as the primary point of contact for customer complaints and quality concerns.

Analyze customer issues, support corrective actions, and communicate findings and countermeasures back to the customer.

Conduct trend analysis of internal and external quality problems.

Support process capability studies and continuous improvement initiatives.

Identify gaging needs and coordinate the development or procurement of new gages.

Complete new product documentation and inspection reports.

Train QA associates in quality functions and procedures.

Support the ISO 9000 internal audit system and perform ISO audits.

Travel to customer locations as needed to:

Understand product usage and application

Build and maintain customer relationships

Investigate and report on quality issues
Working Conditions / Physical Demands
-
Exposure to loud noise, dust, heat, cold, and various industrial chemicals.

Required PPE includes hardhat, safety shoes, earplugs, and safety glasses while in plant areas.
Required Skills & Qualifications
-
Minimum 3 years of experience in an automotive manufacturing environment.

ISO 9000 / TS 16949 experience preferred.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.

Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet software.

Working knowledge of SPC, gaging, and Gage R&R studies is a plus.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.

Familiarity with core quality tools: 5-Why, 8D, 5P, Fishbone, SPC, R&R, etc.
