Temporary Office Administrative Assistant – Government Relations

Location: Annapolis, MD
Duration: Temporary | January 26, 2026 – April 30, 2026
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Dress Code: Business Casual

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a Temporary Office Administrative Assistant with experience supporting Government Relations or legislative work. This role will provide critical administrative and coordination support during the Maryland legislative session, ensuring smooth operations, effective communication, and successful event planning.

Key Responsibilities

Government Relations Support

  • Coordinate and schedule meetings, briefings, and presentations

  • Maintain shared drives, spreadsheets, and legislative tracking materials

  • Assist with bill tracking and legislative updates

  • Organize and register witnesses for Maryland General Assembly testimony

  • Draft and distribute meeting notes

  • Support Lobby Day, rallies, and legislative events

  • Provide administrative and scheduling support to the Director of Government Relations

Communications & Calendar Management

  • Manage calendars and run Zoom meetings

  • Maintain databases of grassroots organizations and community partners

  • Track and update calendars for community events and Government Relations activities

  • Communicate and schedule with legislators and staff as needed

Event Planning

  • Assist with planning and coordination of community and legislative events

  • Support Gideon’s Day planning and preparation

  • Coordinate vendors, logistics, and event walk-throughs

  • Draft event-related emails, thank-you notes, and outreach materials

Qualifications

  • Prior administrative or office support experience required

  • Government relations, legislative, or public-sector experience strongly preferred

  • Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills

  • Proficiency with calendars, spreadsheets, shared drives, and virtual meeting platforms

  • Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Additional Information

  • Temporary employees work up to 8 hours per day

  • No overtime, holiday, or building-closure pay
