Controller – Printing Manufacturing
Location: Ocean County, NJ
Salary Range: up to $120,000 - 130,000 + bonus, based on experience
Job Summary
We represent a well-established, family-owned printing company in Ocean County seeking a hands-on Controller to lead accounting operations, financial reporting, and job costing for our production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee general ledger, month-end close, and financial statement preparation
- Manage AP, AR, payroll, and day-to-day accounting operations
- Maintain accurate job costing for print production (paper, ink, labor, press time, finishing, overhead)
- Analyze estimate vs. actual job performance and margin results
- Partner with ownership, sales, and operations to support pricing decisions
- Monitor inventory accounting for paper stock and raw materials
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
- Coordinate with external CPA firm for tax filings and year-end close
- Improve financial controls, reporting processes, and costing accuracy
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally in manufacturing or printing
- Strong knowledge of job costing and production cost accounting
- Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting systems
• Detail-oriented, hands-on, and comfortable in a mid-sized business
Preferred:
- Printing industry experience (commercial print, packaging, wide format, etc.)
- Familiarity with print MIS systems (EFI Pace, PrintSmith, Monarch, etc.)
- CPA or CMA a plus
