Job Full Description
Build a Career Where Your Effort Directly Impacts People, Businesses, and Your Own Success
If you thrive in a fast-paced, relationship-driven environment—and you want a role where your results matter—this may be the opportunity you’ve been looking for.
At Express Employment Professionals, no two days are the same. As an Employment Consultant, you’ll build your own book of business, solve real workforce challenges, and play a hands-on role in helping people and companies grow across Western North Carolina. This is a role for someone who wants ownership, not just a job description.
What You’ll Own in This Role
As an Employment Consultant, you are empowered to run your desk like your own business. Your success is driven by your initiative, problem-solving skills, and ability to build trust.
You will:
• Interview, evaluate, and match job candidates with the right opportunities
• Proactively recruit talent aligned with your clients’ needs and company cultures
• Build and strengthen client relationships through ongoing outreach and service
• Identify workforce challenges and propose practical staffing solutions
• Conduct culture tours and learn how client operations truly work
• Collaborate with managers and supervisors across multiple industries
• Attend job fairs and represent Express in the local community
• Make outbound service and marketing calls to grow accounts and create value
• Learn the business behind staffing, including employment law, unemployment claims, workers’ compensation, and billing
• Balance multiple priorities while delivering consistent results
Why This Role Is Different
• Growth & Development: You’ll gain deep knowledge of industries, business operations, and people management—skills that accelerate long-term career growth.
• Accountability & Ownership: Your performance matters. You are trusted to manage your desk, your relationships, and your results.
• Challenge & Variety: Every day brings new problems to solve and new people to impact.
• Reward for Results: Strong performance is recognized and financially rewarded.
Each year, you’ll help place candidates with over 100 local companies and support hundreds of people in finding meaningful employment—all while building a career you can be proud of.
What Success Looks Like
The ideal candidate is someone who:
• Takes personal and professional ownership of their work
• Thrives in a goal-driven, performance-based environment
• Can juggle multiple priorities without losing focus
• Communicates with confidence, honesty, and professionalism
• Reads people well and adapts to different personalities
• Enjoys solving problems, negotiating solutions, and overcoming challenges
• Is motivated by both helping others and achieving measurable results
Compensation & Benefits
This is a full-time, permanent position offering:
• Base salary of $45,000–$50,000 per year
• Bonuses and uncapped monthly commission eligibility
• Health, dental and vision insurance. Options for Short term and Long term insurance.
• SIMPLE IRA retirement plan with company matching
• Life insurance
• Paid holidays and vacation
Who This Role Is Not For
This position is not a fit for everyone, and that’s okay. You may want to pass on this role if you:
• Prefer a highly structured, repetitive job with the same tasks every day
• Are uncomfortable with accountability or being measured by results and outcomes
• Do not enjoy proactive outreach, relationship-building, or business development
• Need constant direction rather than the freedom to manage your own work
• Avoid difficult conversations, problem-solving, or navigating change
• Are looking for a role where effort matters more than performance
• Do not want your income potential tied to your initiative and results
This role is best suited for someone who wants to own their desk, challenge themselves, grow professionally, and be rewarded for the impact they make.
