Assistant Manager / Foreman – Packing Shed
Location: Malin, OR
Pay: $23–$28/hr DOE | Earning potential $70K–$80K annually
Schedule: Full-time, 40–70 hours/week (seasonal overtime required)

A well-established local agricultural company is seeking a reliable, career-driven Assistant Manager / Foreman to help oversee daily operations in a busy potato packing shed. This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone with experience in agriculture, food production, or warehouse operations who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys leading teams while staying actively involved on the floor.

We are looking for a dependable problem-solver with strong leadership skills, mechanical aptitude, and a business-minded approach to operations and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help oversee daily packing shed operations and workflow

  • Supervise, lead, and support a team of 20+ employees

  • Assign daily tasks and assist with scheduling and staffing needs

  • Train, coach, and support employee performance and accountability

  • Monitor potato grading, sorting, and packaging for quality and accuracy

  • Ensure food safety, sanitation, and OSHA standards are consistently met

  • Maintain production schedules and support shipping deadlines

  • Troubleshoot operational issues and keep production running efficiently

  • Operate, oversee, and assist with repairs and maintenance on packaging machinery

  • Track production metrics, labor hours, and downtime

  • Utilize computer systems and technology for reporting and operations

  • Communicate with ownership/management regarding staffing, maintenance, and inventory needs

  • Step in to manage operations in the Manager’s absence

Qualifications

  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience required (agriculture, warehouse, or food production preferred)

  • Experience managing 20+ employees strongly preferred

  • Familiarity with food safety standards and compliance

  • Strong work ethic with ability to lead by example

  • Mechanically inclined with ability to assist in equipment repairs and maintenance

  • Computer savvy and technologically inclined

  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills

  • Career-driven with a detail-oriented and business-minded approach

  • Ability to work long hours (40–70/week) during peak and harvest seasons

  • Ability to stand, walk, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in a fast-paced environment

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required
