Job Full Description

Position Summary

The County Park Aide supports the daily operations, cleanliness, maintenance, and visitor experience of county parks and recreation areas. This position reports to the County Parks Shop each workday and will travel to various park locations as assigned. Duties include general grounds maintenance, facility upkeep, customer service, and assisting with park operations to ensure parks remain safe, clean, and welcoming for the public.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform general park maintenance including trash removal, cleaning restrooms, sweeping shelters, and maintaining common areas.
  • Assist with landscaping duties such as mowing, trimming, weeding, watering, and basic irrigation checks.
  • Inspect parks, playgrounds, picnic areas, and trails for cleanliness and safety concerns.
  • Report vandalism, maintenance issues, hazards, or unsafe conditions to supervisors.
  • Set up and clean up park facilities for events, reservations, and public use.
  • Operate hand tools, power equipment, and maintenance vehicles safely and responsibly.
  • Restock supplies in restrooms and park facilities.
  • Interact professionally with park visitors and provide basic information regarding park rules and amenities.
  • Support seasonal projects and special assignments as needed.
  • Follow all county safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience in grounds maintenance, janitorial work, landscaping, parks maintenance, or general labor preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong work ethic and dependable attendance.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Basic knowledge of hand and power tools preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform physical labor throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Work Environment

This position works at multiple county park locations and outdoor recreational facilities. Employees should be comfortable traveling between parks and working in a variety of outdoor environments.

  • Tuesday through Saturday
  • 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
