Job Full Description
Do you have a strong sense of awareness and enjoy keeping things running smoothly and safely? We’re looking for a Residential Security Specialist to join a dynamic team that plays a key role in ensuring a secure and structured environment. In this position, you'll monitor the movement of youth and staff, maintain safety protocols, and keep communication flowing clearly between team members. You'll be trusted with overseeing building security, conducting regular and random safety checks, and using tools like radios and security cameras to stay ahead of any issues.
When situations arise, you’ll take quick action, communicate clearly, and follow through with accurate reporting. You’ll also document daily activity and shift summaries, help coordinate transitions, and brief incoming staff at shift changes to ensure seamless operations.
We're looking for team players who are observant, calm under pressure, and either experienced with trauma-informed care and the Sanctuary Model—or open to ongoing training to grow these critical skills. Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor the movement of staff and youth to ensure proper placement and accountability
- Maintain building and perimeter security through scheduled and unscheduled checks
- Utilize surveillance equipment (radios, cameras, etc.) to identify and respond to concerns
- Communicate with team members and assign staff to needed areas as situations change
- Intervene appropriately and report incidents or irregularities in a timely manner
- Maintain clear and accurate records, including Daily Activity Communication Logs and Shift Summaries
- Support smooth transitions and movements of youth between spaces
- Provide shift-change briefings to incoming staff
- Follow trauma-informed care practices and participate in related training as needed
