We’re hiring a MIG Welder – Fabrication Specialist for a hands-on role with a small, niche metal shop near Tualatin that specializes in custom grating and grid-style metalwork. This isn’t an assembly line job—it’s a creative, open-space environment where you’ll build from blueprints, work independently, and use a variety of tools to get the job done.
This is a great fit for someone who enjoys precision work, downhand MIG welding, and has a knack for fabrication. You’ll be using tools like Miller welders, oxy-acetylene torches, and ironworkers to cut, shape, and assemble custom grating structures. It’s a great opportunity to work in a tight-knit shop that values craftsmanship over speed.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Read and interpret fabrication drawings and blueprints
- Perform MIG welding using Miller welding machines with .035 wire (downhand only)
- Fabricate metal grating and custom components to exact specifications
- Use oxy-acetylene torch setups to cut metal stock to precise lengths
- Operate shop tools including skill saws, ironworkers, and forklifts
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace
- Inspect your work to ensure accuracy, quality, and proper fit
- Collaborate with shop leads as needed—but work independently most of the time
- Participate in a hands-on fabrication test as part of the interview process
