We’re hiring a Youth Worker – Security Specialist for our residential facility. This is more than just a security role—it’s a chance to be part of a dedicated team helping young people heal, grow, and thrive.
What You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you'll be the eyes and ears of the building, making sure staff and youth are where they need to be, when they need to be there. You’ll maintain a secure, welcoming environment by monitoring activity, doing routine safety checks, and communicating with your team. You’ll help things run smoothly—whether that’s documenting shift changes or responding to incidents—and be a key part of keeping everyone safe and supported.
The ideal candidate is calm under pressure, organized, attentive, and excited to work in a trauma-informed environment. You’ll receive about 3 weeks of paid training when you start, so no worries if you don’t know everything right away—just bring your focus and commitment to learning.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor staff and youth movements throughout the facility
- Communicate status updates to your team and leadership
- Assign staff to designated areas as needed for coverage and safety
- Perform routine and random building checks for safety and security
- Operate and monitor security equipment (radios, cameras, etc.)
- Intervene in incidents when necessary and complete proper documentation
- Maintain clear and accurate logs, including Daily Activity Communication Logs and Shift Summaries
- Support smooth transitions and movement of youth throughout the day
- Conduct thorough briefings during shift changes
- Uphold trauma-informed care principles and participate in training on the Sanctuary model
- Collaborate with the Security Supervisor and program staff to ensure a calm and supportive environment
