Express is actively seeking a Payroll Specialist for a local municipality.
Pay Rate: $24.38-$27.44/ hour
SUMMARY STATEMENT
The payroll specialist is responsible for collecting timekeeping information, processing Company payrolls accurately for 50 employees, verifying and applying applicable deductions to employee pay, and issuing pay and pay-related information to employees.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Auditing timekeeping records for compliance with established standards
- Auditing new hires into the payroll system
- Compiles payroll data such as hours worked and bonuses.
- Compiles funds to be withheld for taxes; employee contributions to insurance and retirement
- Updates master payroll records by verifying and recording changes affecting net wages such as federal and state tax exemptions, insurance coverage, etc.
- Updates data concerning compensation increases, promotions, and/or transfer of employees between departments
- Computes wages and deductions, reviews for accuracy, and posts to payroll records
- Prepares data for payroll files to be reviewed before processing
- Keeps records of leave pay and nontaxable wages
- Enters all employee benefit deductions, garnishments, AR payments and any other deductions as directed/approved by the employee in accordance with state and federal laws
- Maintains professional appearance and neat work area.
- Reconciling Payroll Liability Accounts
Skills
- Clear and concise communication skills
- Proficient at MS Office
- Experience with Vison or Tyler software
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Preferred- Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and 1 to 3 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
