    • Spanish supplier aims to add 200 employees for Shelby Township plant
    • Wages start at $14.50
    • Hourly jobs come with benefits

Grupo Antolin is looking to add more than 200 hourly employees to its workforce after hiring 340 last year to fill its $61.2 million manufacturing plant that opened in Shelby Township in November.

Applications are open for direct-hire production positions starting at $14.50 and $14.75 an hour with benefits including vacation pay, 401(k), and medical and dental coverage.

The Spanish auto supplier of interior components is contracting with Shelby Township-based talent recruitment firm Express Employment Professionals to make the hires.

Filling the 200 new openings would bring the plant to capacity, said Paul LaFrance, general manager of Express Employment. Of the 340 employees hired for the company so far, there has been a less than 5 percent turnover rate.

LaFrance said the labor shortage is making for tough sledding when it comes to finding qualified workers.

"In today's market, things have changed dramatically," LaFrance said. "For as long as I have been in the industry it is has been an employer-dominated marketplace. It has turned into an employee-dominated industry."

Grupo Antolin, which has its North American headquarters in Auburn Hills, reported revenue of $6.48 billion in 2016. It employs more than 26,000 people worldwide.
