Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Human Resources Manager to support day-to-day HR operations for a growing organization. This role will oversee all core HR functions, including recruitment, payroll, employee relations, compliance, and benefits administration, while partnering closely with leadership to support business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle recruiting, including job postings, sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding
- Oversee new hire orientation, drug screens, and pre-employment processes
- Administer and maintain HRIS (Paylocity) and employee records
- Process weekly payroll, including timekeeping, auditing, and reporting
- Manage compensation updates, bonus structures, and salary adjustments
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions
- Administer employee benefits (medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, 401k) and annual processes (5500 reporting, company match)
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and California labor laws
- Oversee workers’ compensation claims and safety-related HR matters
- Ensure timely processing of payroll taxes and quarterly filings
- Maintain ACA compliance and accurate employee documentation
- Develop and coordinate training programs, including annual compliance training (harassment, workplace safety, etc.)
- Partner with leadership and outside vendors, including staffing agencies
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- 3–5+ years of progressive HR experience
Certifications:
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR highly preferred
Skills & Expertise:
- Strong knowledge of California labor laws and HR compliance
- Experience with HRIS systems (Paylocity preferred) and payroll processing
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and business correspondence
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
Additional Requirements
- Valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Bilingual Spanish is a plus
