Job Full Description
Express Employment Professionals seek a Welder responsible for fabricating, assembling, and welding structural and non-structural steel components in accordance with engineering drawings, welding procedures, and industry quality standards. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with FCAW welding, oxy-fuel and plasma cutting equipment, structural steel fabrication, and blueprint interpretation, along with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and productivity.
Compensation: Starting pay is $15.00 per hour
- Higher pay may be offered based on experience, skills, certifications, and overall qualifications.
Job Responsibilities
- Weld structural and non-structural steel parts using FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding).
- Read and follow welding drawings, symbols, and written procedures.
- Use oxy-fuel and plasma cutting equipment to prepare materials.
- Perform grinding, finishing, assembly, and fabrication of steel components.
- Work with structural materials such as beams, channels, and angles.
- Perform welds according to AWS, ASME Section I, ASME Section VIII Division 1, and API requirements.
- Inspect work for quality and ensure finished products meet specifications.
- Safely operate an overhead crane after successfully completing the required test.
- Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a clean, safe work area.
- Complete an in-house written and hands-on welding test.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of general welding experience or vocational welding training.
- Must pass required welding, drug screening, and criminal background screening.
- Proficient in FCAW welding and basic fabrication techniques.
- Ability to read and understand welding drawings and symbols.
- Skilled in using a measuring tape to 1/16" increments and common hand tools.
- Experience using oxy-fuel and plasma cutting equipment.
- Good mechanical, mathematical, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Ability to follow instructions and work safely.
- Able to stand and walk for an 8–10 hour shift and frequently bend, kneel, crouch, and use hands and arms.
- Ability to lift 75+ lbs. and assist with turning beams or columns.
