We have been asked by a client in North Indianapolis to help them find a Bookkeeper/Staff Accountant.

 

Our client manages HR and payroll for companies nationwide. In this role, you will manage internal bookkeeping and accounting functions for the company. You’ll be responsible for reconciling accounts, managing accruals and prepaid accounts, managing garnishment payments, and supporting the preparation of internal financial statements. This is not a client-facing or payroll processing role, but it does require an understanding of payroll systems and garnishment procedures.

 

Pay, Hours, and Employment Type

  • Pay: $20–$30 per hour, depending on experience
  • Type: Contract-to-hire, temp-to-hire
  • Hours: Full-time, Monday–Friday, standard business hours

What will you do as a Bookkeeper/Staff Accountant?

  • Reconcile bank statements and balance sheet accounts daily
  • Bring in daily activity from PrismHR payroll software into QuickBooks Online
  • Manage and reconcile approximately 500 weekly garnishment and child support payments across 47–50 states
  • Ensure timely mailing or online remittance of garnishment checks
  • Set up garnishment orders as needed (volume varies weekly)
  • Respond to interrogatories from courts and state agencies requesting employment/payroll information
  • Make general ledger entries and assist in preparing monthly internal financial statements
  • Track and reconcile accruals and prepaid accounts (e.g., rent, insurance, utilities, audit fees)
  • Use Excel to analyze and organize financial data (SUMIF, VLOOKUP, subtotals, filters; Pivot Tables a plus)

What qualifications will you have as a Bookkeeper/Staff Accountant?

  • Proven experience in bookkeeping or staff accounting
  • Strong understanding of accruals and prepaid accounts
  • Ability to reconcile balance sheet accounts and make general ledger entries
  • Familiarity with garnishment setup and payment processes
  • Experience answering interrogatories related to payroll and employment
  • Advanced Excel skills (SUMIF, VLOOKUP, filters, subtotals; Pivot Tables a plus)
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online and PrismHR preferred
  • Payroll experience is a plus (not required for this role)
  • Detail-oriented, dependable, and focused personality traits
