We’ve been asked by a well-established geotechnical and environmental consulting firm in Indianapolis, Indiana to assist in identifying a Senior Geotechnical Engineer for their team. This firm offers a full spectrum of services including subsurface exploration, geotechnical instrumentation, construction materials testing, and advanced geotechnical analysis. With certifications from INDOT and the Public Works Certification Board, they are recognized for delivering innovative solutions and technical excellence across a wide range of infrastructure and development projects.

 

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $90,000 – $130,000, commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead geotechnical investigations including field exploration, lab testing, and engineering analysis.
  • Design shallow and deep foundation systems, earth retention structures, and ground improvement solutions.
  • Prepare and review geotechnical reports, proposals, and construction documents.
  • Oversee geotechnical instrumentation programs (e.g., piezometers, inclinometers, settlement cells).
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and internal teams to ensure project success.
  • Provide expert input on advanced modeling (2D/3D FEM), seismic design, and forensic evaluations.
  • Support business development and proposal efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering (Master’s or Ph.D. preferred).
  • PE license in Indiana (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
  • Minimum 5–10 years of geotechnical engineering experience.
  • Proficiency in geotechnical software (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio, LPILE, gINT).
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Experience with public infrastructure projects is a plus.

Preferred Expertise:

  • Seismic site response and liquefaction analysis.
  • Design of MSE walls, slurry walls, and braced excavations.
  • Numerical modeling and soil-structure interaction.
  • Forensic engineering and litigation support.
