Our client, a respected logistics and transportation company based in Ocean County, NJ, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to support key financial functions, with a focus on payroll processing and invoice auditing. This is a full-time, on-site role offering competitive hourly pay and an opportunity to contribute to a mission-critical area of operations.
Ideal candidates will have prior experience handling payroll—particularly driver pay using ELD systems—and a strong track record of reconciling invoices and supporting monthly closeouts. If you enjoy precision work and want to be part of a collaborative team, this role could be a great fit.
🔍 Key Responsibilities

Process weekly payroll, including driver time verification using ELD systems (currently Motive)

Assist with month-end closing activities, including posting journal entries and reviewing ledgers

Conduct audit-style reviews of vendor invoices—especially for tank washes—and match them against customer billing

Reconcile vendor charges with customer invoices to identify and correct discrepancies

Coordinate with operations and dispatch to ensure proper documentation and billing support

Support general ledger reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records

Ensure compliance with internal controls and procedures
✅ Candidate Profile

4+ years of experience in accounting, finance, or bookkeeping

Proven experience with payroll processing, preferably involving driver pay and ELD tracking

Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and familiarity with monthly close processes

High attention to detail and accuracy in invoice and data review

Proficiency in Excel and experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage)

Comfortable working independently and communicating with multiple departments

Experience in the logistics or transportation industry is a strong plus
