Commercial Building Maintenance Engineer
Pay: $24–$28 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

Express Employment Professionals – South Fort Worth is hiring a Commercial Building Maintenance Engineer for a client company. This direct-hire opportunity is ideal for a hands-on maintenance professional with experience troubleshooting HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems. You will help keep commercial properties safe, efficient, and well-maintained while providing excellent service to tenants and property management staff.
Maintenance Engineer Responsibilities

Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, mechanical equipment, and life-safety systems.

Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to improve equipment reliability and building efficiency.

Respond to tenant service requests, maintenance work orders, and equipment issues.

Monitor building automation and energy management systems.

Inspect properties to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.

Coordinate with vendors and contractors performing specialized repairs.

Document inspections, repairs, preventive maintenance, and equipment performance.

Assist with property renovations, tenant improvements, and capital projects.

Track maintenance supplies and recommend purchases as needed.

Follow applicable building codes, OSHA regulations, and company safety procedures.

Participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergency maintenance needs outside regular business hours when required.
Maintenance Engineer Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.

Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.

Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals, and equipment specifications.

Basic computer skills, including familiarity with work order management software.

Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Strong troubleshooting, communication, customer service, and organizational skills.

Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and safely use maintenance tools and testing equipment.

Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, access rooftops, and work in mechanical rooms.

Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Preferred Skills and Certifications
-
Three or more years of commercial building maintenance experience.

Technical school certification, related associate degree, or trade license.
-
EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification.

Building Operator Certification (BOC).
-
Electrical or mechanical trade license.
-
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification.

Certified Facility Manager (CFM) or similar industry credential.
