Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team in Mobile, AL, 36608. In this role, you will be responsible for operating various types of heavy machinery and equipment to install, maintain, and repair underground utilities. Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment such as backhoes, excavators, and trenchers for underground utility projects.
- Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of water, sewer, and storm drain piping and related structures.
- Conduct daily inspections of the work area to identify potential hazards and maintain compliance with all safety protocols, including proper use of PPE.
- Locate and verify existing underground utilities prior to excavation to prevent damage and ensure safe operations.
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and cleaning of equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Read and interpret blueprints, project plans, and drawings to accurately guide installation and construction activities.
- Document daily job details, including work performed, materials used, and site conditions.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications are a plus.
- Proven experience operating heavy machinery, preferably in underground utility work.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and best practices in construction environments.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Physical stamina and the ability to work in various weather conditions.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
