Fleet Diesel Mechanic
Pay: $27.00 - $30.00 per hour (based on experience)
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Fleet Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a fleet of diesel-powered vehicles and equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on fleet vehicles and equipment.
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, brake systems, suspension components, steering systems, and electrical systems.
- Conduct inspections to identify mechanical issues and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Utilize diagnostic equipment and software to troubleshoot vehicle malfunctions.
- Perform oil changes, tire repairs and replacements, battery replacements, and other routine maintenance services.
- Maintain accurate service and repair records.
- Respond to breakdowns and perform emergency repairs as needed.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and efficiently while following company policies and OSHA regulations.
- Keep work areas clean and organized.
- Collaborate with management to prioritize repairs and minimize vehicle downtime.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2+ years of diesel mechanic experience preferred.
- Experience working on medium- to heavy-duty fleet vehicles.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems, hydraulics, electrical systems, and diagnostics.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Must provide and maintain your own mechanic tools required to perform job duties.
- Valid driver's license required; CDL is a plus.
- ASE certifications are preferred but not required.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in varying shop and outdoor conditions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
