Formal schooling or certifications aren’t required — what matters most is real-world competency and the ability to keep vehicles safe, reliable, and DOT compliant.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Repair

  • Perform preventative maintenance and routine service on trucks and trailers (oil changes, filters, fluid checks, alignments).

  • Inspect, repair, and replace brake systems (air brakes, hydraulic systems, disc/drum).

  • Handle tire work, including replacements, rotations, puncture repairs, and rim service.

  • Diagnose and repair minor electrical issues such as lighting, wiring, fuses, and switches.

  • Troubleshoot and repair engine, transmission, drivetrain, and suspension issues.

  • Complete DOT-required inspections and ensure vehicles meet compliance standards.

  • Maintain accurate records of services, repairs, and parts used.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all safety protocols and use PPE at all times.

  • Keep vehicles in compliance with DOT standards.

  • Perform regular safety checks to identify and address issues proactively.

Operational Support

  • Manage repairs efficiently to minimize downtime and maximize fleet availability.

  • Maintain tools and shop equipment in good working order.

  • Communicate clearly with supervisors and drivers about repair needs and vehicle readiness.

  • Respond to occasional roadside breakdowns when needed.

Qualifications & Skills

Required

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience working on diesel trucks and trailers.

  • Solid understanding of brakes, hydraulics, suspension, and drivetrains.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair 12V/24V electrical systems.

  • Knowledge of DOT safety and compliance standards.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.

  • Reliable, safety-conscious, and organized.

  • Valid driver’s license.

Preferred (Not Required)

  • CDL (Class A or B).

  • Welding or fabrication ability.

  • Previous experience with fleet maintenance in a trucking or logistics environment.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Shop-based role with occasional roadside repair work.

  • Exposure to grease, oil, solvents, noise, and fumes.

  • Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting (up to 50 lbs+).

  • Flexible schedule and overtime may be required during busy seasons.

What’s in It for You

  • Competitive hourly pay ($18–$20/hr).

  • Steady full-time role with consistent work.

  • Independence to work and make decisions on repairs.

  • Opportunity to expand your mechanical expertise across multiple systems.
