Position Summary

The Building Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing general maintenance, repairs, inspections, and upkeep of the facility to ensure a safe, clean, functional, and well-maintained environment. This role supports daily operations by handling routine maintenance requests, troubleshooting facility issues, and coordinating with vendors when needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general building repairs, including minor plumbing, electrical, drywall, painting, carpentry, and hardware repairs.
  • Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment to identify maintenance needs or safety concerns.
  • Complete preventive maintenance tasks on HVAC systems, lighting, doors, locks, fixtures, and other facility equipment.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repair needs.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance areas, tools, and supplies.
  • Replace light bulbs, filters, ceiling tiles, batteries, and other routine facility items.
  • Assist with furniture moves, room setups, deliveries, and minor installation projects.
  • Monitor building systems and report larger repair needs to management.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors or contractors as directed.
  • Maintain records of repairs, inspections, supply usage, and completed work orders.
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Perform basic exterior maintenance such as snow removal, salting, trash pickup, and grounds upkeep as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous building maintenance, facilities, handyman, or related experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, carpentry, and general repairs.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and maintenance equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Valid driver’s license may be required.
  • Must be dependable, punctual, and professional.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and reach throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work in confined or elevated areas as needed.

Work Schedule

Schedule may vary based on business needs. Occasional evenings, weekends, or on-call availability may be required for emergencies or special projects.
