Position Summary
The Building Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing general maintenance, repairs, inspections, and upkeep of the facility to ensure a safe, clean, functional, and well-maintained environment. This role supports daily operations by handling routine maintenance requests, troubleshooting facility issues, and coordinating with vendors when needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general building repairs, including minor plumbing, electrical, drywall, painting, carpentry, and hardware repairs.
- Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment to identify maintenance needs or safety concerns.
- Complete preventive maintenance tasks on HVAC systems, lighting, doors, locks, fixtures, and other facility equipment.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repair needs.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance areas, tools, and supplies.
- Replace light bulbs, filters, ceiling tiles, batteries, and other routine facility items.
- Assist with furniture moves, room setups, deliveries, and minor installation projects.
- Monitor building systems and report larger repair needs to management.
- Coordinate with outside vendors or contractors as directed.
- Maintain records of repairs, inspections, supply usage, and completed work orders.
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
- Perform basic exterior maintenance such as snow removal, salting, trash pickup, and grounds upkeep as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous building maintenance, facilities, handyman, or related experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, carpentry, and general repairs.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and maintenance equipment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Valid driver’s license may be required.
- Must be dependable, punctual, and professional.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and reach throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to climb ladders and work in confined or elevated areas as needed.
Work Schedule
Schedule may vary based on business needs. Occasional evenings, weekends, or on-call availability may be required for emergencies or special projects.
