Automotive Mechanic – Day Shift

Location: St. Joseph, IL (near Champaign)

Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable Automotive Mechanic to join our team in St. Joseph, IL. This day-shift role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles while delivering quality workmanship and dependable service in a fast-paced shop environment.

Shift & Pay

• Shift: Day shift, 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM

• Pay: $20.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical issues using appropriate tools and equipment

• Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, brakes, tires, and inspections

• Repair and replace components such as starters, alternators, belts, hoses, and suspension parts

• Test vehicles after repairs to ensure proper operation and safety

• Maintain a clean and organized work area

• Follow shop safety procedures and industry best practices

• Communicate findings and repair needs clearly with the team

Qualifications

• Previous automotive mechanic or technician experience preferred

• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills

• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment

• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs

• Reliable attendance and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

• Automotive certification or technical training

• Experience working on a variety of vehicle makes and models

• ASE certification (a plus, not required)

• Prior history working in automotive repair (Not just a lube technician)
