Position Overview
A manufacturing facility in the Charleston area is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Intern to support maintenance operations, inventory management, and plant reliability initiatives. This hands-on internship provides exposure to maintenance systems, preventive maintenance processes, inventory control, and CMMS documentation within an industrial manufacturing environment. The role is ideal for students interested in maintenance, operations, engineering, industrial technology, or supply chain management who are looking to gain practical experience in a fast-paced plant setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with inventory organization and stock management across multiple maintenance and warehouse areas
- Support large-scale inventory and organization projects within the facility
- Help develop and update Standard Work Instructions (SWIs) for preventive maintenance and repair procedures
- Perform accurate data entry within the CMMS system and Microsoft Excel
- Work closely with maintenance supervisors and team members to maintain accurate documentation
- Assist with maintenance-related projects during plant shutdowns and routine operations
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
- Support additional maintenance and operational tasks as assigned
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Industrial Technology, Supply Chain, or related field
- Second-year standing or higher preferred
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Willingness to learn CMMS systems and maintenance processes
- Comfortable working in an industrial maintenance environment with physically demanding and dirty tasks
- Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn
Preferred Qualifications
- Coursework related to mechanical systems, maintenance practices, or industrial operations
- Prior manufacturing, warehouse, maintenance, or technical experience
- Exposure to inventory systems or preventive maintenance concepts is a plus
