Typical Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Full-time, long-term opportunity with a path to permanent hire

Schedule and overtime may vary based on weather, project demand, and the needs of the right candidate.

Lead From the Field

A family-owned business operating both tree-service and asphalt divisions is seeking an experienced working foreman. The immediate priority is strengthening the tree-service operation with someone who can lead a crew, operate a bucket truck, and take real ownership of work in the field.

This is not a desk-only supervisor position. The right person will work alongside the crew, make sound decisions, and keep projects moving. Asphalt experience is valuable but not required.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead daily tree-service projects and direct the field crew
  • Operate a bucket truck during tree trimming and removal work
  • Evaluate jobsites and determine the appropriate crew and equipment setup
  • Assign responsibilities and communicate clear expectations
  • Perform hands-on tree work alongside the crew
  • Monitor workmanship, productivity, and job completion
  • Coordinate project needs, equipment concerns, and field updates with ownership
  • Help train less-experienced crew members
  • Maintain accountability for tools, vehicles, and equipment
  • Potentially support asphalt or winter snow operations based on experience

Required Experience

  • Direct professional tree-service experience
  • Previous bucket-truck operation experience
  • Demonstrated ability to lead employees and make field decisions
  • Knowledge of tree trimming, tree removal, and ground-crew operations
  • Strong equipment awareness and practical problem-solving ability
  • Ability to organize work and keep a crew productive
  • Willingness to remain hands-on rather than supervising from the sidelines

Additional Experience That Increases Your Value

  • CDL A or B
  • Asphalt, paving, crack-sealing, or related construction experience
  • Snowplow or winter road-maintenance experience
  • Heavy-equipment operation
  • Experience overseeing multiple types of field crews

Candidates do not need experience in both tree service and asphalt. Strong tree-service leadership and bucket-truck ability are the primary needs.

Physical and Work Environment

  • Outdoor work in changing temperatures and weather conditions
  • Regular standing, climbing, bending, and physical fieldwork
  • Ability to handle tree-service tools and equipment throughout the workday
  • Comfort working at elevation from a bucket truck
  • Schedule flexibility as projects, weather, and seasonal demands change

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • Broad $20.00–$35.00 pay range that rewards leadership, tree expertise, CDL credentials, and versatility
  • Significant responsibility and the ability to make an immediate impact
  • Small, family-owned environment
  • Opportunity to help shape the role around your strongest skills
  • Potential overtime and varied year-round work
  • Growth into broader responsibility across tree, asphalt, and snow operations
  • Opportunity to transition directly onto the company’s team after a successful introductory period
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Weekly pay
  • Referral bonus
