Machine Shop Positions | Brighton, MI
We are representing a high-precision machine shop specializing in tooling manufacturing building custom cavity dies, lid blocks, molds, and fixtures used by Tier 1 automotive suppliers: OEM and Tier One mold making. Due to continued growth and workload demand, the shop is actively hiring for two critical roles on 1st shift.
POSITION #1: TOOLING TECHNICIAN
Shift / Schedule / Hours
- 1st Shift: Monday – Friday
- Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Paid overtime as needed
- $27.00 – $32.00 per hour, based on experience
Summary of Position
The Tooling Technician uses equipment such as surface grinders, Bridgeport mills, saws, and tool room machinery to manufacture and modify tooling to exact print requirements.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints and tooling prints
- Build, modify, and repair tooling for new and existing jobs
- Set up and operate tool room machines for grinding and fabrication
- Maintain sharp, safe, and properly functioning tooling
- Prepare setup carts for machines when prints are released
- Maintain housekeeping and adhere to all safety and PPE requirements
- Participate in department and shift meetings
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of tooling or tool room experience
- Ability to read blueprints and use measuring instruments
- Experience with grinders, mills, lathes, and shop equipment (manual or CNC preferred)
- Strong problem-solving and attention to detail
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and stand/walk throughout the shift
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Shop-floor manufacturing environment
- Exposure to moving machinery, forklifts, and elevated noise levels
- Frequent standing, bending, lifting, and material handling
- Ability to remain alert and safety-focused
POSITION #2: CNC OPERATOR / MACHINIST
We are also hiring a skilled CNC Operator/Machinist to program, set up, and operate CNC equipment producing high-precision mold and machined components.
Shift / Schedule / Hours
- 1st Shift: Monday – Friday 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Paid overtime as needed
- $20.00 – $37.00 per hour, based on skill level and experience
Summary of Position
The CNC Operator/Machinist programs, sets up, and operates CNC machines while ensuring quality, safety, and productivity standards are met.
Responsibilities
- Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T
- Program, set up, and operate 3xis to 5axis CNC mills and/or lathes
- Prove out new programs and verify first-run parts
- Calculate offsets, tooling, geometry, and machining parameters
- Perform inspections using precision measuring tools
- Troubleshoot machining issues and adjust programs as needed
- Maintain tooling, equipment, and preventive maintenance
- Complete production and quality documentation
- Follow all safety policies and procedures
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years CNC machining experience
- Strong blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge
- Experience with CNC mills and/or lathes (manual experience a plus)
- Solid math skills including geometry and trigonometry
- Tebis, Work NC Programming highly considered; able to upskill train
- Detail-oriented with a strong quality mindset
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work on your feet
