Job Full Description
A local Waukegan Organization is seeking a temporary Payroll Clerk. This person will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to processing payroll accurately and efficiently. These duties include:
• Processing new and terminated employee paperwork.
• Recording payroll changes (e.g., address, deductions).
• Filing payroll data in an organized manner.
• Verifying and preparing non-salaried employees' labor and contract data for payment.
• Processing semi-monthly payroll.
• Assisting with data entry verification.
• Assisting with the stuffing and sorting of checks and direct deposit notices.
• Answering employee inquiries regarding pay and preparing necessary reports.
• Maintaining sick leave and vacation records for all employees.
• Assisting with the processing of records with IMRF (Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund).
• Performing other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance or Associate Superintendent for Business Services.
• Assisting in processing payroll deduction payments for mailing.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications:
• Prior payroll work knowledge and experience.
• Ability to work with figures and meet deadlines.
• Must be able to pass an EXCEL proficiency test OR type 45 WPM.
• Ability to do record keeping.
• Ability to prioritize work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to professionally and quickly handle questions and concerns.
• Ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner.
• Industrious and possesses the desire to work.
