Specialized Recruiting Group of Olympia is partnering with a local organization to find their next Senior Accountant. This is a full-time, Direct Hire opportunity with compensation ranging from $77,445.70 - $95,481.00 DOE.
The Senior Accountant is responsible for performing accounting duties such as preparing journal entries, reconciliations, complex financial analysis, interpreting financial information, audit, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions for the agency.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage full-cycle accounts payable and receivable, including reconciliations and journal entries
- Process payroll, ensuring accuracy in hours, allocations, deductions, and timely pay
- Prepare monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
- Maintain general ledger and classify revenue/expenditures per GAAP and GASB standards
- Generate invoices, track payments, and resolve discrepancies
- File state and federal tax deposits; prepare W2s and 1099s annually
- Support budget tracking for grants, contracts, and projects
- Assist with audits, compliance reviews, and financial reporting
- Maintain internal controls and ensure regulatory compliance
- Provide financial data analysis and reporting to leadership
- Support HR functions such as benefit administration and personnel data updates
- Help develop and deliver financial compliance training to staff
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years in accounting, finance, or bookkeeping with increasing responsibility
- Strong knowledge of AP/AR, payroll, general ledger, and financial reporting
- Familiarity with GAAP; GASB experience preferred
- Proficient in accounting software, spreadsheets, and payroll/timekeeping tools
- Analytical mindset with ability to interpret and explain financial data
- Effective communicator with strong attention to detail
- Experience in nonprofit or public sector finance highly valued
- Professionalism and discretion in handling sensitive financial and personnel data
Accepted Substitutions for Experience:
- CPA: may substitute for up to 2 years of experience
- CMA: may substitute for up to 1 year of experience
- GFOA certification: may substitute for up to 1 year of experience
- Associate/Bachelor’s degree: may substitute for up to 2–4 years of experience
